Saudi Arabia – the birthplace of Islam – reluctantly abolished slavery in 1962 due to pressure from the international community and the United States of America in particular. However, Saudi Arabia – and many other Islamic countries – have never condemned slavery and are unlikely ever to do so. This is because Islam emphatically asserts that the prophet Muhammed was the perfect man and it therefore is permissible to do anything that Muhammed did.
Consequently, slavery is almost certain to make a huge comeback if the western democracies ever lose their dominant position or are forced to introduce Sharia, which immediately strips non-Muslims of the protection they receive under secular law.
This poses a huge problem: people who dream of owning slaves and concubines are not likely to be deterred by the fact that the non-Muslims have converted to Islam. All Muslims would need to do in order to continue practising slavery, would be to convince themselves that recent converts are pretending to have converted and will later show their true colours. Proving one is no longer a Jew or a Christian could be a lot easier said than done.
It is therefore incumbent on the western democracies to adopt legislation that prevents refugees from obtaining citizenship and the right to vote.
A failure to do so could have tragic consequences.
