OPEN LETTER TO THE ADMINISTRATOR OF COLLEGE OF CAPE TOWN

Dear Dr Nkuna

In 2023 and 2024 the Principal of College of Cape Town, Dr Muswaba, and his sycophantic Labour Relations Officer, Mr Engelbrecht, fought tooth and nail in an attempt at persuading the CCMA that he/the College had been entitled to reduce the hourly-rate of the part-time lecturers from R386.34 per hour to R152.59 per hour. However, the CCMA disagreed and ordered the College to pay my life-partner, Meryl Fleischer, R386.34 per hour for the hours she had worked as a part-time lecturer.

As the College did not appeal against the CCMA’s ruling, your failure/refusal to settle the claims of the other 6 part-time lecturers is deeply disturbing. All that I can assume is that you are hoping to take advantage of the fact that some of the lecturers earned more than the CCMA‘s threshold and cannot, for a variety of reasons, afford to take the matter to court.

You should be ashamed of yourself (of your desire to do what is legal instead of doing what is moral).

I also think it is sad that you hitherto have not had the courtesy to reply to the letter my life-partner sent to you 9 weeks ago (on March 10).

Yours faithfully

Terence Grant
